Elon Church of Christ

The church of Christ at Elon is an independent, non-institutional, non-denominational group of Christians with the goal of serving God, using the Bible as our guide. Our only model is the church that Jesus established, of which we read in the New Testament. Though we seek fellowship with all members of the Lord’s body who we come in contact with, the church of Christ at Elon maintains no organizational ties with other congregations neither in our local area nor abroad.

The Christians who make up the church at Elon are not perfect, but our goal is to live for the One who died for us. As part of the church universal, it is our duty to spread the Gospel, seek and save the lost, encourage members of the Lord’s church everywhere, allow our lights to shine brightly among the local community, serve our members who are in spiritual or physical need, and try to serve the spiritual needs of every person we possibly can. We do not provide recreation or entertainment in the form of playgrounds, dining festivities, or contemporary/modern concert-style musicianship, nor do we provide secular schooling or daycare for children. Simply serving God in accordance with His word is both our duty and our recreation.

We read in the New Testament that Christians regularly met together to worship and study. They sang songs in order to praise God and encourage one another. They also prayed together. On the first day of the week, they financially contributed to the work of the church. We also read that they regularly met on the first day of the week to observe the Lord’s Supper and remember the sacrifice that makes everything we live and stand for possible. These same spiritual activities are what you will find at Elon, in addition to studying the Bible, both in age-appropriate group study sessions and whole-church sermons.

We would love for you to visit with us. You will find a friendly greeting, reverent worship, and teaching strictly from the Bible, all in love and unity with the goal of glorifying God and edifying one another.
